Server
We're back, again...
After yet another week of inexplicable downtime of the dedicated server, we've officially moved to another host.
Our new host, OVH, seems to have a far more advanced infrastructure, better hardware and is roughly 40% cheaper!
Hopefully we don't have to deal with unexpected downtime anymore.
John James has ported everything, except Chronos, over to the new host, so sit tight. Nominally, we should be up and running for this weekend's session.
Arma 3
As most of you probably have noticed, Arma 3 received a massive update including various improvements and fixes, (and most likely a couple of broken things) another update on its audio and the long awaited 3D editor: Eden.
Eden will allow us to take the next step in regards to training facilities, as we can now build "Olympus" faster and easier. We aim to have the basic functionality of Olympus ready, relatively soon.
Technical
As you might have also heard before, with the move to the new host we have decided to replace ArmA3Sync for modpack management with Swifty. Compared to former software, it has actual delta patching (binary repacking of PBO files), runs natively on Windows (no Java requirement), is exceptionally fast and easy to use.
Systems Setup page has been updated with Swifty repository instructions and information on them.
With that, the modpack itself was also updated to version 1.8.1. Major changes include the new structure for Swifty (no subfolders), updated CBA A3 to 2.3.0.160217 and updated Taliban Fighters to RC15. No weapon selection in action menu has been made optional by simply disabling/removing @ace_optionals folder (more information on included optional mods on the Systems Setup page).
IMPORTANT: ApolloClient.dll (Chronos client extension) is now part of the modpack (located inside @tac_mods), please remove the one in the root Arma 3 directory to prevent incompatibilities!
Host move was also a great time to update the backend systems, so bugs and issues are expected, please report them on the forums or Slack as always.
