Situation

Over the past month, the coastal region surrounding Lijnhaven has experienced growing instability following the sudden appearance of an organised militia force identifying themselves as Toboranen. Initially presenting themselves as local law enforcement and regional security personnel, the group established checkpoints, patrols, and security operations throughout nearby population centres under the guise of maintaining public order and protecting civilians from criminal activity.

Local authorities initially cooperated with the Toboranen presence, believing them to be an auxiliary security force operating independently in support of regional stability. However, intelligence gathered over recent weeks indicates the militia has systematically seized control of critical infrastructure throughout the region, replacing legitimate security personnel and isolating entire districts from outside communication.

The Toboranen militia now maintains full operational control over both the Port of Lijnhaven and Saint-George Airstrip, giving them significant influence over regional transport, supply movements, and air access into the surrounding territory. Civilian movement through the area has become heavily restricted, with reports of forced detentions, disappearances, and armed patrols operating throughout the city and docklands.

Three days ago, a Theseus reconnaissance helicopter conducting aerial surveillance over the region while gathering intelligence on Toboranen troop strength and defensive positions was engaged by hostile anti-air fire. The aircraft was struck shortly after transmitting partial reconnaissance data back to command before disappearing from radar coverage somewhere within the Lijnhaven operational zone.

Search efforts conducted remotely have been unsuccessful due to heavy militia activity throughout the area. While the condition of the aircraft remains unknown, intercepted militia communications suggest at least one survivor may have escaped the initial crash.

Theseus Inc. has since been contracted by regional contact Ghonah Phack to deploy a ground recovery team into the area. Your unit will begin operations from Port-Boise before advancing toward the Port of Lijnhaven.

Your mission is to locate the downed helicopter, recover any surviving personnel, and extract the missing Theseus pilot before Toboranen forces secure the crash site or relocate surviving crew members. Recovery or destruction of sensitive intelligence equipment aboard the aircraft is considered a high priority should the opportunity arise.

Enemy forces are expected to be equipped with military-grade weapons and anti-air capabilities. Expect armed patrols and possible militia presence disguised as local law enforcement throughout the region.
