Situation
Several weeks have passed since Theseus Inc. successfully infiltrated a Shamshir-e Īmān stronghold and rescued a group of civilians scheduled for public execution within Kunduz Valley. While the operation was considered a tactical success, the consequences have significantly altered the security situation throughout the region.
The rescue embarrassed local Shamshir-e Īmān leadership and undermined their authority amongst nearby villages. In response, the organisation has launched an aggressive campaign throughout the valley, expanding its influence into previously neutral communities and increasing military activity across major roads, settlements, and key terrain features.
According to intelligence provided by Abdul Kharahmic, several villages have since fallen under direct insurgent control. Shamshir-e Īmān fighters have established checkpoints, fortified compounds, and weapons storage sites throughout the region. Civilians suspected of assisting Theseus operations have reportedly been detained, interrogated, or executed without trial.
At the same time, resistance activity against Shamshir-e Īmān has increased. Small groups of local fighters have begun conducting guerrilla attacks against insurgent patrols and supply routes. While these attacks have disrupted enemy operations, they have also prompted increasingly severe reprisals against the civilian population.
Large portions of the countryside surrounding Maghdoot Khel are now considered hostile territory. Intelligence reports indicate extensive enemy patrol networks, armed technicals, fortified positions, improvised explosive devices, anti-vehicle mines, and the presence of radicalised fighters willing to conduct suicide attacks against perceived enemies of the organisation.
Relations between Theseus Inc. and the local population have also deteriorated. During previous operations, movement through populated areas caused tension amongst local communities. While many civilians remain opposed to Shamshir-e Īmān, others now view foreign contractors with suspicion and may provide information to insurgent forces regarding friendly movements.
Five days ago, a Theseus reconnaissance team operating within the Maghdoot Khel region was tasked with gathering intelligence on recent insurgent expansion and identifying senior Shamshir-e Īmān leadership. Initial reports were successfully transmitted back to command; however, while moving toward their extraction point, the team came under attack.
All communications with the reconnaissance element ceased at approximately 1700 hours Friday local time. No further radio transmissions, emergency beacons, or satellite signals have been received. Their current status remains unknown.
While Abdul Kharahmic remains an active client and continues to provide intelligence regarding insurgent activity throughout Kunduz Valley, command authority for this operation has transitioned to Theseus Leadership following the disappearance of the deployed reconnaissance team.
Recovery of Theseus personnel, operational assets, and any intelligence gathered by the reconnaissance element is considered mission critical. The success or failure of this recovery operation may directly impact future Theseus operations throughout Kunduz Valley.
Due to growing hostility within the valley, Theseus forces have been repositioned to a hilltop southwest of Masjid Muallem and have established a temporary forward operating base away from major population centres.
Following the events of the previous operation, Shamshir-e Īmān forces conducted a coordinated raid against the former Theseus safe house located within Maghdoot Khel. The site, a fuel station owned by Abdul Kharahmic, had served as a logistical hub and temporary operating location for Theseus personnel conducting intelligence gathering throughout the region.
The facility sustained significant damage during the assault and can no longer support sustained operations. Intelligence suggests the attack may have been directly linked to the activities of the reconnaissance team operating from the area prior to their disappearance.
Your mission is to move through contested territory toward Maghdoot Khel, locate the missing reconnaissance team, recover any surviving contractors, and prevent sensitive Theseus equipment or intelligence from falling into enemy hands. Any information recovered regarding the force responsible for the attack is considered mission critical.
Recent aerial reconnaissance has identified several armed vehicles operating under Shamshir-e Īmān control. Due to the increased threat level, Command has authorised a dedicated CAS asset to support operations throughout the contract area.
Expect heavy enemy resistance. Positive target identification remains essential, as civilians continue to occupy many villages despite ongoing insurgent activity.
