A Knightly Find
Abdul Kharahmic
Situation
Over the past several months, the security situation throughout Kunduz Valley has rapidly deteriorated following the withdrawal of regional security forces from several key towns and supply routes. What was once considered a relatively stable trade corridor has since become a contested region controlled by scattered insurgent factions, criminal groups, and militant extremists.
The most dominant force currently operating within the valley is a Taliban-aligned militant organisation known as Shamshir-e Īmān. Intelligence gathered from local informants suggests the group is made up largely of veteran fighters with prior combat experience against coalition and Afghan National Army forces. Unlike smaller insurgent cells previously encountered in the area, Shamshir-e Īmān operates with military discipline, established checkpoints, organised patrols, and coordinated defensive positions throughout the region.
Over the last two weeks, Shamshir-e Īmān has intensified its presence around nearby villages, conducting forced recruitment, weapons seizures, and public punishments against civilians accused of cooperating with outside organisations. Multiple reports indicate the group has begun targeting local leaders, teachers, and civilians openly critical of their growing influence within Kunduz Valley.
Three days ago, several civilians were detained during a raid conducted in the northern district of the valley after speaking publicly against the militant occupation. Local sources report the prisoners were transported to a fortified compound approximately 2 kilometres north of our current position. The compound itself was previously used as a storage and logistics site before being seized by insurgent forces earlier this month.
Intercepted communications and eyewitness reports suggest the detained civilians are scheduled for public execution by hanging sometime before sunrise. The executions are intended to serve as both retaliation and a warning to nearby villages resisting insurgent control.
Theseus Inc. has been privately contracted by local community figure Abdul Kharahmic, who has provided actionable intelligence regarding enemy movements, patrol routes, and the compound layout. Abdul maintains a network of civilian informants within the area and believes there is only a limited window available before the hostages are moved or executed.
Your team is tasked with infiltrating the compound under the cover of darkness, locating and rescuing the detained civilians, and extracting them safely to the designated safe house located at the petrol station on the outskirts of town. Enemy resistance within the compound is expected to be significant, with additional insurgent reinforcements likely operating within the surrounding valley.
Stealth is strongly advised during infiltration. Civilian presence within the surrounding villages remains high, and collateral damage may negatively impact local support networks currently assisting our operation.
